HydroLUX® ultra-heavy duty submersible driving lamps feature advanced engineering, focused on the requirements of mining and emergency vehicles that operate on and off public roads. Suitable for 24V and 12V electrical systems. Good lighting is essential to create a safe and productive illumination of the road, enabling drivers to clearly see and identify any hazards in time to take the required action. The HydroLUX® is not only engineered to deliver excellent lighting but also to withstand regular submersion or continuous under water operation, as well as the extreme environmental conditions encountered in mining applications. Hella’s patented isobaric system prevents water ingress into the optical module, whilst enabling easy service access and reliable long-term operation of the seals under mining conditions. To ensure correct operation of the isobaric system and perfect focus, each optical module unit comprises a precision-moulded specular reflector, with integral lamp holder permanently assembled to a corrosion resistant hardened clear lens seated into a Die-cast alloy frame. Each HydroLUX® is individually pressure tested and certified. (See technical section for more information.) HydroLUX® lamps are available with Free-Form spread and pencil beam auxiliary driving beam distribution types, in addition to a wide range of ECE and SAE approved high/low beam versions for use as headlamps in left and right hand public road traffic. (See technical section for more information on Hella applications engineering service.) All HydroLUX® optical modules feature a fully integrated, patented Hella MustADD® filter to ensure that optimum optical performance is maintained over the product’s life in the adverse atmospheres typically encountered in mining. (See technical section for more information.) An ergonomic, heavy-duty cast aluminum body with an integral “non-snag” adjustment handle is the basis of all HydroLUX® lights. A robust lens retaining ring with captive M4 Allen bolts enables rapid routine service access from the front, while high temperature O-ring seals ensure effective sealing. A UV resistant multi-stage powder coating process ensures optimal corrosion protection. Accurate and stable aiming in a high vibration environment is a vital aspect of safe and legal road lighting. The non-resonant and corrosion resistant cast alloy bracket fitted to the body shape minimizes mechanical stress, and a rubber damper between the lamp and bracket eliminates metal-to-metal contact to reduce the intensity of shock and vibration communicated to the light. Two M6 Allen bolts ensures that the critical vertical aiming can be locked securely, and a M8 bolt in the base enables direct mounting onto equipment. Safe and reliable electrical connection is facilitated via a 2m length of highly flexible double insulated cable, factory sealed into the body, eliminating the requirement for water-proof connections at the lamp. Other connector options can be supplied as special orders.
